BLACK IT UP

Hailing from the cushion foundation capital of Korea, HERA’s Black Cushion became an instant icon because its lightweight, matte finish helped it stand out in a sea of dewy formulas... Two years later, the brand has launched the Black Foundation and everyone’s getting in line for the promise of beautifully diffused, flawless skin. This is due to its new Magnefit Powder technology, which maintains baby-soft matte coverage and comfort for long periods of time, without drynes. Available in 12 shades optimised for Asian skin tones, use it with a brush, puff or even your fingers.

Hair Talk With…

NANCY TWINE

The founder of clean hair care brand, Briogeo, on bouncy curls, nature’s goodness and how to co-wash.

What’s Briogeo bringing to the table?

We stand for clean beauty. Briogeo is a plant-based, naturally derived haircare line that is free of sulphates, parabens, phthalates, silicones, DEA and synthetic colour. Our texture specific collections provide clean solutions to hair needs and concerns like frizz, curls, damage, scalp irritation and colour protection.

How do you define “natural” beautyy?

We don’t often realise our everyday personal care products contain chemicals that have been linked to things like skin lipid damage and hormonal imbalance. All Briogeo products contain at least 93 percent naturally derived ingredients, and we cross-check the remaining non-natural (albeit carefully selected) all ingredients with the Environmental Working Group.

What’s your personal haircare routine like?

When I wear my hair curly, I love co-washing, which is about skipping the shampoo and using a conditioner to wash the hair, because curls really pop when they’re extra moisturised. I typically follow up with our Curl Charisma Leave-In Defining Crème and Frizz Control Gel for bounce and definition. If I’m doing a blowout, I’ll use our Farewell Frizz Blow Dry Heat Protectant Cream to ward off heat damage.

Is there a hero ingredient you can’t live without?

I love rosehip oil! We use it in many of our products. It’s great at combating frizz and is rich in antioxidants to help protect the hair from environmental pollutants.

If you had to choose just one product, which one and why?

Our first, and award-winning Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask. It works on all hair types and is clinically proven to reduce breakage by over 81 percent without the use of harsh synthetics, making it unique in a sea of other hair repair products.
