Girls with PALE SKIN...

Look for softer coral shades that border on peach with a warm undertone, and use it as a wash all over the lids. Don’t hold back when it comes to your pout— make your lips the focus of your look with a punchier shade of coral that’s vibrant without being OTT.

PRO TIP:

To give the eyeshadow depth and avoid looking like you have an eye infection, smudge a brown eye pencil close to the lashes.

Girls with MEDIUM SKIN...

While Living Coral is a great colour for all skin tones, the hue really sings on yours. Don’t be shy to incorporate this fun yet wearable colour into a monochrome makeup look. Start by concentrating the shade on your cheeks, playing up or toning down the intensity as desired. Finish the look with a touch of the hue on your lids and a swipe of it on your lips.

PRO TIP:

First time using coral hues? It’s easiest to start with a blush. Begin with a dusting of colour before building the intensity as you get used to the shade.

Huda Beauty Obsessions Precious Stones Eyeshadow Palette in Topaz, $55

Girls with DEEP SKIN...

We weren’t kidding when we said this colour works for everyone. It can look equally flattering on deeper skin tones when you pick the right shade. Opt for a rich coral shade with a hint of tangerine that stands out against your skin tone. For a trendy update on the look, make your eyes the main attraction with bold colour across the lids.

PRO TIP:

Blend a matte tangerine-coral shade along the socket and a satin peach coral shade on the lids. Using two shades in different textures adds dimension to the look and makes the colour stand out.

So Pore Thing

Can’t seem to “get rid” of your pores? Here’s a cheat sheet.

Can’t seem to “get rid” of your pores? Here’s a cheat sheet.

You’ve been cleansing, toning, masking and generally been on-the-ball with your skincare routine and yet, you can’t help but notice your pores. The bad news is, you can’t change the size of your pores.

It is largely determined by genetics and your skin type, but other factors like hormones, pregnancy and age also play a part. The good news is, there are lots of things you can do to make them appear less visible.

What’s the cause?

To tackle enlarged pores, you must first determine what’s causing them to appear larger. Pores expand to enable the excess flow of sebum for those with oily or combination skin types, but they also get slack and appear bigger because sun damage causes a breakdown of collagen and elastin, which are essential to help keep skin firm and pores tightly closed. Pollution, stress and an unhealthy lifestyle can also cause them to get clogged and appear larger.

Pores, be gone!

The trick to making your pores appear smaller is to make sure you keep them clear of any impurities. A thorough cleansing routine that includes a makeup remover and

face wash is the first step to smaller-looking pores. Salicylic acid, an oil-soluble alpha hydroxy acid, will sink into pores and dissolve nuggets of oil to help keep them small. Add a retinol serum to your skincare routine to help firm skin to keep pores tight. Finally, don’t forget sunscreen to prevent damage from UV rays.

A good pore-minimising primer will also go a long way in giving the illusion of non-existent pores, so you don’t have to feel so poor thing anymore.
