Every Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) flight prides itself on its “SWISSness”. By that, the Switzerland-based carrier means consistent and outstanding service, classic Swiss hospitality and keen attention to detail.

To ensure each of its nearly 18 million passengers a year is comfortable throughout his journey, whichever of its over 100 destinations in 50 countries he’s headed to, the airline takes a multifaceted approach.

In-flight cultural immersion

First off, expect to feel right at home from the start: A multilingual crew makes it possible to serve you in your preferred language – a fitting representation of Switzerland’s cultural diversity. If you’re Swiss, you’ll feel that much closer to home right away in spite of how many more miles there are to go. And for international customers, it’s a great way to get a taste of Swiss culture even before you arrive. Flying with the airline regularly? The cabin crew are likely to even remember your personal preferences, so you can rest easy knowing you don’t have to repeat your requests. Now that’s service.

Once you’re settled in, it’s the little touches that bring out the SWISSness of the in-flight experience. Chocolates – a national specialty – are distributed to every passenger. An award-winning SWISS Taste of Switzerland culinary programme for first and business classes ensures that every on-board meal is a treat for the taste buds.

The airline also makes it a point to showcase the work of young Swiss designers. For instance, textile designer Caroline Flueler is responsible for the design of seat covers, blankets and pillows in all three classes on SWISS’ intercontinental fleet. Even the in-flight amenities include quality products from reputed Swiss manufacturers, such as La Prairie skincare in the First Class kits.

Optimised for flight

Can’t wait to experience a SWISS flight first-hand? Book yourself a seat on the airline’s daily flight from Singapore to Zurich.

Board a Boeing 777-300ER – the airline’s flagship aircraft – and depart from Singapore late at night, then sleep all the way till 6.10am, when you arrive in Zurich just in time to attend any morning appointments.

On the return leg, your flight out of Zurich departs at 10.45pm so you can spend the whole day in Zurich or Europe, indulge in last-minute shopping or even catch up with friends over dinner before checking in. Then it’s onto the plane for a comfortable sleep-in, disembarking in time for local dinner delights in Singapore. Such a flight schedule minimises the discomfort of red- eye flights, and saves you from spending precious hours waiting on layovers and transfers.

Even if you do have to transfer via Zurich Airport to your destination, expect a pleasant experience as well. Efficiently designed and easy to navigate, the airport layout ensures you won’t have to worry about long distances between gates. For longer layovers, there’s the SWISS First Lounge, the Senator Lounge or the SWISS Business Lounge to ease the wait.

Don’t fret about freight

You will arrive at your destination feeling thoroughly pampered, and you can expect the airline’s Swiss WorldCargo division to take equally good care of cargo. It provides a comprehensive range of airpor t-to-airpor t airfreight services for high-value and care-intensive consignments to some 130 destinations in over 80 countries, helping the airline generate a total operating income of some 5 billion swiss francs in 2016.

SWISS is part of the Lufthansa Group, and is also a member of Star Alliance, the world’s biggest airline grouping. To find out more or to book a flight, visit http://www.swiss.com
