Did you know that we were the first local magazine to organise a beauty awards event? To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Her World Beauty Awards, we threw a carnival-themed party. Here are the highlights!
Ask a beauty writer to name her favourite product and you’ll be hard-pressed for an answer. It doesn’t help that there are hundreds of new and exciting items to try out every year – we tested 800 nominees, all launched between October 2014 and September 2015, for the Her World Beauty Awards 2016 alone.
Luckily for us, we had assistance! Industry experts such as doctors, hairstylists and makeup artists helped the Her World team pick the winners for the Editors’ Choice award, while well-known bloggers were enlisted to decide which products would take home the Bloggers’ Choice award. Readers, too, played a part, voting online for products they thought should bag the Readers’ Choice award. The result of all that hard work: 189 winners across 93 skincare, makeup, haircare, fragrance and body-care categories.
To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Her World Beauty Awards, we threw a carnival-themed party at Ion Orchard’s Atrium on Feb 26, 2016. And since no party is complete without games and snacks, we kept our guests entertained with carnival games such as ball toss and darts, and served up snacks such as nachos and hot dogs.
Petrina Kow, our host and “ringmaster” for the night, kept our audience entertained not with tricks, but with plenty of jokes.

The party was kicked off with much fanfare, thanks to this six-piece percussion ensemble.
The more than 150 industry insiders who joined us at our bash this year were also treated to a magic show by magician Jack Magik and a deft juggling act by Willis Lee, a street-style performer. But, the stars of the show were, of course, the winning products.
In addition to our usual product categories – including recent beauty trends such as facial oils, cushion compacts and skincare boosters – is a special category: Best Beauty Boutique. This recognises the best new standalone stores that off er superb shopping experiences for beauty junkies.
The party brings this year’s beauty awards to a beautiful close (now you know exactly what to buy!), and we’re already looking forward to uncovering exciting finds for next year’s. Stay tuned!
