More is more this season, as punchy colours, shimmer and glitter take centre stage. Here are the top beauty trends to make your own:

1. Look-at-me lips

From coral, red and pink hues in powder, velvet and cream textures to glitter and foil pouts, lips are in the limelight this season.

PRO TIP: Keep the look up-to- date by leaving your lipstick soft around the edges. And don’t forget to prep with lip balms and masks—flaky lips are never a good sight.

2. Spa skin

Chok chok skin, mochi skin, glowing skin— call it what you want, but skin that looks like you just got back from the spa is always in style.

PRO TIP: The first step to radiant skin perfection is prep. Drench your skin in moisture, skip the foundation and conceal any blemishes. Then layer liquid highlighter or balm on the high points of the cheeks, bridge of your nose and centre of the forehead for that extra glow.

3. Natural brows

Forget overemphasised Instagram brows. The trend is to keep them natural, but groomed.

PRO TIP: The key is to work with the natural shape of your brows. Beef up sparse brows with a volumising brow gel and tame any stray strands with a clear setting gel.

4. Sparkle and shine

Out partying? Heading to a festival? Take inspiration for your makeup looks from this season’s runways, where models showcased a variety of ways to wear glitter.

PRO TIP: Keep it pretty with a wash of sparkle across the entire eyelid or concentrated at the inner corners of the eyes. If you dare, go all out with chunky glitter. There are no rules for this look.

5. Bright eyes

PRO TIP: Stick to two complementary colours for a grown-up take on this trend.

6. Baby bangs

The hair trend to adopt this season? Micro bangs. With an unfinished, almost boyish look, they’re the perfect accompaniment to pretty hair accessories.

PRO TIP: You don’t have to actually cut your hair to rock this trend. Invest in a hair extension and have your stylist customise it for you. Spritz with a texturising, anti-frizz spray to keep your bangs from looking too perfect.

7. Ultra-feminine makeup

Think pink—on the eyes, lips and cheeks for a look that’s sweet without being saccharine.

PRO TIP: To nail this look, play with the intensity of the hue. Go deeper on your lips, with a more subtle wash of colour on the eyes and cheeks. If you’re using a punchy colour on your cheeks, keep the lips and eyes pared back.

8. Highlighter hair

If you’re going to get a dye job, make it a neon one. The colour craze extended to hair, as models were seen sporting “highlighter” ’dos this season.

PRO TIP: For a less OTT look, colour just the under-layer of your hair. Don’t want to commit? Get a coloured hair extension.
