My Reading Room

01 GUCCI

Since Gucci’s current creative director, Alessandro Michele, took the helm, the brand’s ready-to-wear collections have been a smorgasbord of embroidery, ruffles and colours.

Distinguished by colourful dials and engraved bracelets, its Le Marche Des Merveilles watch range extends this luxebohemian theme. In our pick from this stylishly over-the-top bunch, a turquoise-effect dial featuring Gucci’s signature bee motif at 12 o’clock is gloriously complemented by an engraved case and an engraved bracelet with synthetic turquoise stones.

02 DIOR

From the lily of the valley that he tucked into the hems of dresses in a 1947 collection, to his English-style family garden, it’s clear that the late Christian Dior loved flowers. His passion has inspired countless creations by his eponymous brand, one of the latest being the Grand Soir Botanic collection of timepieces.

Each unique watch in the eightpiece collection is decorated with precious stones forming a lush tableau of flowers and leaves.

The model shown here features a white gold case with snowset diamonds – and a dial of sapphires, emeralds and rubies.

03 DOLCE & GABBANA

Golden brocade coats and tuxedo suits covered with crown motifs are just a couple of examples of Dolce & Gabbana’s taste for excess with a baroque slant.

Now, the Italian label’s first Alta Orologeria (Italian for high horology) watch collection lets fans complete the look. Inspired by the operas of 19th-century composer Giuseppe Verdi, the four watches feature opulent architectural-inspired accents such as friezes and bas-reliefs.

True to their name, the watches are powered by mechanical movements made by Swiss highcomplication specialists MHC.
