Her World Tunns 60!

I grew up with Her World.

I grew up with Her World. Then again, which Singapore woman didn’t? Her World has been a constant for so many here – from discovering the latest fashion trends and skincare ingredients to finding fellow inspiring women.

I started poring through every issue in my teens when my sister began buying it monthly. A few years later, when I was a fresh grad, I interned at Her World – it was a dream come true. Little did I expect to come full circle and actually become the editor of this landmark magazine 16 years later.

Since 1960, Her World has been celebrating and championing women, and 2020 is no different.

This year’s 29th annual Her World Woman of the Year award has become, for the first time, Women of the Year (page 124), where we highlight eight exceptional frontliners for their outstanding contributions in Singapore’s battle against the pandemic.

Our three cover stars, Jeanette Aw, Oon Shu An and Rebecca Lim, are faces that Singaporeans have always loved (page 28-45).

In March, we kicked off our 60th birthday celebrations with our #HerWorldHerStory campaign, featuring 60 ordinary women with extraordinary stories.

Her World Rally, a new platform, was created to engage women in an intimate space and have real conversations, which continued via our Instagram live chat series #HerWorldWithYou, featuring celebs such as Pan Lingling, Belinda Lee and Benjamin Kheng.

This month, look out for more live chats with our current cover stars on Dec 1 (Jeanette), 8 (Shu An) and 15 (Rebecca) at 10pm.

Her World’s advocacy for women will continue over multiple platforms. Last month, we launched our podcast Her World Pow Wow on Spotify, with a video version on our YouTube and IGTV channels.

We have been empowering and inspiring women for 60 years now, and we’re not stopping any time soon. Here’s to many more years to come.
