DEWY: Skin functions slow down as you age, leaving you with a drier, duller- looking complexion. A foundation with a dewy finish can help you look youthful and refreshed. The luminous finish works for most skin types except the very oily, which could look even greasier.
MATTE: A matte finish makes dry skin look even drier and more cakey, with more pronounced flakiness and wrinkles. Matte foundation works better on oily skin, but you should use an oil-free primer underneath to stay matte throughout the day.
RADIANT: This foolproof finish works for everyone. It creates a natural, youthful-looking glow without making your skin appear too dry or too oily.
FOR OILY SKIN
While it can be a challenge to get foundation to stay put on oily skin, you should still use one as it can help your complexion look fresh, matte and flawless.
Go for: Compact powder foundation or a lightweight, oil-free liquid one with oil-control and mattifying properties.
Skip: Thick, heavy or creamy foundations – these make your skin look greasy.

FOR DRY SKIN
Applying the wrong kind of foundation on skin that’s prone to dryness makes the dry patches look more obvious, especially if they’re flaking.
Go for: Rich, moisturising formulas in the form of tinted moisturiser, liquid foundation or cream foundation. Look for ingredients that hydrate, nourish and make your skin glow.
Skip: Powder compact foundation. It can make your skin look dull and cakey. If you must have the convenience of a compact, go for a cream-to-powder formulation to minimise dryness.
