A TOUCH OF GOLD
Just because a collection is inspired by East Asia doesn’t mean it has to be all shimmery pinks and lantern reds, as S/S ’19 makeup from Lucia Pica, Chanel’s global creative makeup and colour designer, shows. She took inspiration from minute details and humble objects she observed during her travels in Japan and South Korea – think the glimmer of fish scales and inky wires dangling across a side street. The result is golds, greens, rich reds and elegant plums that are at once urbane and urban. Colours with attitude but no less wearable.

WATERCOLOUR PASTELS
Get painterly with this angelic look. For a soft watercolour effect, pick up the eyeshadow with a fluffy eyeshadow brush and spritz facial mist over it before applying to eyelids. This gives the eyeshadow a less powdery finish that appears more fluid and diffused on skin.

JUST-HAD-AFACIAL SKIN
It’s the antithesis of the Instagram face. Ultra-natural and fuss-free, this is about showing off healthy, plump, radiant skin – not trying to conceal every pore and freckle. Apply just a little foundation to even out the skin tone, then sweep nude and soft-brown eyeshadow over the eyes to create depth.

SCULPTED EYES
Here’s a new look for the eyes: Work a matte eyeshadow in warm pink around the eyes, following their shape and fading out at the ends. Use a dark eyeliner to draw a graphic V-shape at the outer corners and finish with mascara close to the base of lashes.
