ASIAN SKIN TONES LOOK GREAT WITH ANY BRIGHT EYE MAKEUP, AS LONG AS YOUR EYES ARE BROWN OR BLACK.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN: Neutralise Your Skin Tone
Have you ever applied bright eyeshadow only to be disappointed by the murky hue on your eyelids? To avoid this, you need to counter any unevenness in skin tone and/or greyish tinge on the skin with an eyeshadow primer like Kat Von D Lock-it Color Correcting Eyeshadow Primer, explains makeup artist Larry Yeo. Use one in a shade closest to your natural skin colour.

CHANGE YOUR BASE
If you like bright eye makeup, but prefer a softer, less intense look, switch your usual eyeshadow base to a lighter-coloured one, suggests Larry. Similarly, for a darker version of any bright eyeshadow, just use a darker base.

Make Bright Colours Pop
For an ultra-pigmented look, use your fingers to smooth a thin layer of cream eyeshadow over your eyelids, then pat on powder eyeshadow in a similar shade to amplify its colour, says Larry. If you’re sticking solely to cream eyeshadows, use a white one or a white eyeliner over a neutral eyeshadow base before applying eyeshadow in a vivid hue.
