More than 20 years after her death, Diana Spencer remains as powerful a style icon as ever. When designing her spring/summer 2020 collection, Tory Burch took her cue from the Princess, bringing together English garden florals, a restrained silhouette and an ’80s sensibility. “I’ve been fascinated with Diana since I was young,” Burch says. “I love her fearlessness, her intelligence and, most of all, her humanity.” When Natalia Vodianova opened the show in a delicate white gown constructed from embroidered handkerchiefs, paired with trainers, Burch was making a connection between the charitable natures of her inspiration and the philanthropist model. “Diana left a legacy of giving back that embodies what I admire most, one that has been instilled in our company since the very beginning.”
