The downside to cubic zirconia: It’s not diamond. The upside: Like diamond, it’s hard, durable and clear, so it only makes sense for the Danish jeweller, which has been using the material as a mainstay, to treat it like the gemstone. Cue its Fall and Winter collections, which we previewed in Hong Kong. The Geometric Glow line, for example, features cubic zirconia with fancy cuts (think oval, pear and – possibly the most innovative – octagon), all set into classically elegant pendants, stud earrings and cocktail rings. In Hearts Of Pandora, expect cubic zirconia in two ways: jewel-toned on rings, or micro-set on the rim of charms that are already high on lustre, thanks to rose- cut crystals encased in lattice work sterling silver. And while the vintage- inspired Cascading Glamour range features cubic zirconia as is, each piece – chandelier-style necklaces and earrings – reportedly boasts as many as over 100 of the crystalline stone.
