When it comes to mastering an art, the rule of thumb is it takes 10,000 hours. So, having sold nearly 10 million pairs of shoes over the past 29 years, it’s safe to say that shoe retailer Design & Comfort is at the top of its craft.

In the 1970s, Chan Koon Kai was a shoe salesperson, living with his mum, a hawker; and his dad, who worked at a printing press. With a small loan, he set up the first Design & Comfort boutique in 1985.

Today, the company has been passed down to his son, Nicholas, and that original store in City Plaza (which still remains open) has expanded to more than 20 stores across the island, with three boutiques in Myanmar and worldwide shipping from their online store.

The secret to their success? Staying on top of trends and mixing style with support – creating shoes that look great and feel great, even after a full day on your feet. And the best part is, they’re super affordable, starting at just $25 a pair, making them perfect for fresh grads (and stylish women looking for a bargain!).

Women’s Shoes, $25.90 - $58.90. Men’s shoes, $28.90 - $75.90.

Women’s bags, $38.90 - $78.90. Men’s bags, $52.90 - $78.90.
