“It’s important that we have that trust. If I feel like I can’t leave her alone with another guy and am constantly worried about what might happen, it feels like a very unhealthy relationship. The way I see it, we should trust that our girlfriends won’t cheat on us – but if she does, it’s actually a blessing in disguise. If your girl wants to cheat on you, she’ll eventually do it, even if you try to stop her from meeting that other guy. Personally, I don’t get jealous when my girlfriend hangs out with other guys, but she’ll have to let me know first.”

“It depends. If my girlfriend has been friends with the guy before we got together, I wouldn’t mind. I believe that just because you’re in a relationship, it doesn’t mean you can’t hang out with old friends of the opposite sex. In fact, I wouldn’t even mind if I’m not invited along – sometimes, you just need to give them space. However, if my girlfriend made a new guy friend during the course of our relationship, I might be more wary. I would need to get to know the guy first before I’d be comfortable with them meeting up.”

“Honestly, I think I would be at least a bit jealous. But take it this way: I wouldn’t get jealous if I wasn’t crazy about her. I might be OK with it if I’ve met the other guy before and she lets me know whenever they’re meeting. Different couples have different attitudes towards this, from ‘of course you should trust your partner’ to ‘just no’, so I don’t think there’s a hard and fast rule here. For couples going through these issues, maybe meeting the other party and seeing for yourself how their friendship is purely platonic can help ease your tensions. Of course, if you find they’re a bit too close for your comfort… well, love is never a bed of roses, is it?”
