What makes a woman beautiful? Is it her striking features and perfect skin, or is there more to it? For Elemis, a 26-year-old British beauty brand, the answer lies in one of its latest campaigns.

Sixteen years after the introduction of the legendary Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, Elemis launches the Limited Edition Pro- Collagen Marine Cream Ultra-Rich – an enhanced formula that supports nourished and moisturised skin, and a good cause.

A richer version of the original cream, the Ultra-Rich edition is ideal for dehydrated skin. “It contains cocoa butter, with a high concentration of antioxidants to intensely hydrate the skin while fighting free-radical damage; and sunflower extract, which boosts key lipids, reinforcing the skin barrier to lock in moisture,” explains Oriele Frank, co-founder and chief marketing officer of Elemis. “Whether [the dryness] is due to weather, stress or diet, you can work it into your routine whenever you need more moisture.”

Sold at £110 per jar, what makes the purchase of this elixir for the skin extra meaningful is that the proceeds from its sale are donated to Women for Women International, which helps marginalised women in countries affected by wars and conflicts reclaim their lives through social and economic empowerment. “Each limited-edition jar comes with the words ‘She Inspires Me’ engraved on the lid to show our support for this fantastic cause,” says Frank.

“At Elemis we share Women for Women International’s passion for prioritising women’s well-being,” she continues. “With over 20 brutal armed conflicts across the globe right now and unprecedented levels of violence against women, there’s never been a greater need for this work. We are so privileged to live in a country of peace and democracy, and wanted to help women that have lived through war and terrible tragedies to help them turn their lives around.”

With a donation of £16,200, Elemis is realising this vision by funding a class of women in Afghanistan in a year-long charity programme. A woman enrolled will be offered support and resources to get her family out of poverty, regain confidence and security, including a monthly stipend and opportunities to acquire vocational skills and practical knowledge about her health and rights. After the year’s training, she is connected to financial services, advanced business and vocational trainings, as well as support networks to ensure sustainable change for herself, her family and community.

“We’ve always believed that if women have the right tools, there is nothing they can’t achieve when they come together,” says Frank. “This limited-edition cream supports the skin’s natural abilities and a cause that supports women’s natural abilities. It’s a dream team.”

To celebrate International Women’s Day and further increase their donation, as well as public awareness of Women For Women International’s work, the brand is also launching a social media campaign from March 1 to 8. For every share and tag using #SheInspiresMe, @ElEMISltd and @WomenforWomenUK on Instagram during this period, Elemis will donate £1 to the charity.

“These women are inspirational and Elemis is proud to be making the difference in their lives to give them hope and a better future,” Frank concludes. It seems then, the Limited Edition Pro-Collagen Marine Cream Ultra-Rich doesn’t just contain a wonderful skincare solution, but also represents compassion, hope and empowerment of women. Perhaps this is the ultimate beauty secret.
