THE PROMISE: The multitasking cream is designed to exfoliate and tone the body simultaneously. The skin is supposed to feel smoother after the first application, and continued use said to reduce thickness of fatty tissue and blur the appearance of cellulite and stretch marks.
PACKAGING: It comes in a 150ml tube with a flip-top cap – straightforward and mess-free. Unlike other Phytomer products with solid colour packaging, the Resurfaslim Cream’s design emphasises the marine element, which is at the heart of the French skincare company’s formulas.
WHAT’S IN IT: For exfoliation, four AHAs (short for alpha hydroxy acids, commonly found in products which reduce wrinkles and improve skin texture) include glycolic, lactic, citric acids and Phytomer’s marine AHA, called ‘porhyra-conchocelis powder’, which is extracted from a red alga and is especially effective in removing dead cells.
For slimming, pepper slimactiv (a pure pink pepper oil) is said to have a contouring effect more powerful than caffeine, while Global Marine Reshaper is a synthesised marine sugar created using biotechnology.
HOW TO USE: Massage onto the entire body twice daily with upward motions. Due to its peeling action the skin may become prone to sunburn, so avoid direct exposure and wear a sunblock while using the cream and for a week afterward.
WHAT TO EXPECT : The cream has a fresh, floral scent and a non-sticky texture that make application a pleasant ritual. Immediately afterwards you may feel a cool sensation, and skin instantly feels soft and moisturised. As for the slimming effect, I’ve been using it diligently for two weeks on one side of my body, but so far the difference isn’t apparent. To see toning and firming results, longer-term application is needed.
BEST FOR: Anyone with cellulite and/or stretch marks. As well as those who follow a healthy diet and exercise regime, yet still have difficulty with fat loss in specific areas, such as the waist, thighs and arms.
FINAL VERDICT: As much as we’d like a potion that can magic the extra pounds away while sitting on the sofa snacking, the cream alone isn’t going to help you achieve the perfect figure. However, Resurfaslim does contain powerful ingredients that could facilitate results of a weight-loss plan. It’s also an effective body treatment in improving overall skin quality. After just a few days, my skin felt significantly smoother and looked brighter compared with the side on which I’d only used a moisturiser.
