Think spinach, broccoli, Brussels sprouts… they’re all jam-packed with folic acid, a vitamin proven to help ease low moods. Aim for 3 to 4 cups a day.
Salmon, mackerel and sardines are all excellent sources of omega-3 oils, which improve heart health and lift levels of happy hormone serotonin to smooth out mood swings.
A daily serving of about one third of a cup of pistachios (approximately 40 grams) was found to help lower blood pressure and bad cholesterol, meaning they’re good for stress reduction.
There’s a reason it’s called the “happy fruit”. Stress is fuelled by low potassium levels and bananas are a brilliant potassium source. Aim for one banana each day to top up your levels.
