Cook the perfect bowl of rice to go with your dishes at home by following our expert tips:

GET THE RIGHT RATIO

Use a 1:2 ratio of one cup of rice to two cups of water. A half cup of uncooked rice per person is about right; this generally applies to cooking Jasmine long grain rice.

ADD A LITTLE SALT

Like pasta, adding a little salt (about ½ tsp to 1 tsp for every cup of rice) to the water when cooking helps your rice come out more aromatic, flavourful, and not bland.

LET IT SIT

When the rice is done cooking, do not fluff it or immediately remove it to serve; let it sit in the steaming pot, covered, for about 10 minutes, before you fluff it with a fork.
