Singapore has proven that a small nation can have a big thirst for quality whisky, and its connoisseurs must have drunk themselves into prominence for The Glenlivet to create a single cask exclusively for this little island.
Master Distiller Alan Winchester has selected a single hogshead cask to fill the Glenlivet Kinrossie Single Cask, which means there are fewer than 250 bottles produced and we get to call dibs. The spirit has spent 15 years in wood, and was bottled at a cask strength of 60.4 per cent abv. It has not been chill-filtered (a process that some distillers use to remove the natural fatty acids, esters and proteins that otherwise cause cloudiness) as the distillery wishes to offer the purest expression of this limited edition.
The Glenlivet Kinrossie, which gets its name from an ancient hamlet near the Glenlivet Valley, is reported to have notes of honey, peach, candied pear, orange and chocolate, with a long and smooth finish.
