The next time you have a craving for noodles, there’s no need to go far to satisfy that hankering. Whether you’re dreaming of angel hair pasta, fettucine or ban mian, the Philips Avance Collection Noodle Maker HR2365/05 has you covered.

The best part? You can churn out a batch of delicious noodles in the comfort of your kitchen in just 10 minutes.

Fuss-free to operate, the nifty noodle maker is a versatile kitchen companion that not only takes the fuss out of noodle making, but also helps you eat healthier. With this, your days of poring over the ingredient labels of store-bought noodles or searching out cafes serving gluten-free pasta are over.

HOW IT WORKS

To begin, just add the flour to the chamber and start the machine. Once the kneading begins, pour in the water slowly and let the machine do its magic. For an added burst of colour, flavour and nutrition, you can add eggs, vegetable puree or juices like spinach, carrot or beetroot.

You also have a choice of four shaping discs that churn out angel hair pasta, penne, spaghetti or fettuccine and ban mian. You can even customise the bounciness of your noodles by selecting the kneading time that varies from five to eight minutes.

Set it to work the dough for longer if you like your noodles bouncier. When that’s done, the machine automatically extrudes the dough through the mould for perfectly-shaped homemade noodles every time.

Cleaning up is a cinch, too. The noodle maker comes with a cleaning tool that helps remove leftover dough from the shaping discs. Alternatively, you can leave the moulds in the freezer for two hours before using the tool to poke out the hardened dough in the holes.

There’s even a speciallydesigned drawer for the shaping discs so you’ll never misplace them. The noodle maker also comes with measuring cups for flour and water.

Serves 2-3 For Philips’ fresh carrot noodles 250g all-purpose flour 95ml carrot juice

For the stock:

200g prawn shells, pounded 300g pork bones or more pounded prawn shells 1 litre water

For the fried Hokkien mee:

00g Philips’ fresh carrot noodles 2 tbsp corn oil 3 tbsp garlic, chopped 4 eggs, lightly beaten 2 tsp fish sauce 160g pork belly, boiled and sliced thinly 100g medium prawns 60g small squid, cleaned and slice into rings 2 cups stock 2 calamansi Sambal chilli, to taste (optional)

DIRECTIONS

1. To make 300g of Philips fresh carrot noodles, fit the noodle maker with the Yellow Noodle Shaping Disc (1.6mm square), then pour the flour into the machine.

2. Set the kneading time (5-8min, depending on how bouncy you like your noodles) on the bounciness control button and press start.

3. Slowly add the carrot juice to the flour. The machine mixes the ingredients and churns out the noodles.

4. To make the prawn stock, boil the prawn shells and pork bones in water for about 15min. Reduce the heat and simmer until the liquid reduces by a quarter. Skim off any surface residue and set aside.

5. In a pot of boiling water, cook the noodles for 6min. Drain and set aside.

6. Heat corn oil in a non-stick pan. Fry garlic until fragrant. Add the eggs and 1 tsp fish sauce. Scramble the eggs.

7. Add the cooked noodles and remaining fish sauce. Stir-fry for 3min.

8. Mix in the pork belly, prawns and squid rings, and then the stock. Cover and cook for 2mins more. 9. Uncover and stir thoroughly for 2min before serving with calamansi and sambal chilli.
