1. Exfoliate

Use a gentle lip scrub to remove the dead skin from your lips. They will be softer and smoother, making it easier for your favourite shade to glide on. Starting with a smooth base also means your lipstick will stay on longer, too. You can even make your own lip scrub by mixing sugar with coconut oil, and gently rubbing it onto lips.

2. Prime

A primer gives you a smooth and even base to work on. It helps to fill in the ridges and lines in your pout. Just like what a primer does for your face, the lip primer will help to keep your lip colour on for longer. plus, your lipstick will be brighter and more eye-popping.

3. Line

Use a lip pencil to line your lips. besides helping your lipstick stay on longer, it prevents the colour from bleeding, too. This is especially useful if you plan to rock a darker shade. If you’re new to lining, choose a neutral-coloured lip liner or one just a shade darker than your natural pout.

4. Blot

Here’s a trick makeup artists have been using for years: after applying a layer of lipstick, blot off the excess with tissue. This helps to remove any excess oil on your lips. Then apply another layer to reinforce the colour and it’ll last you all night.

5. Powder

put a very thin layer of translucent powder over your lips after applying lipstick. This helps to mattify and lock in your lip colour. You won’t have to touch up as often with this trick.
