PLATES OF PROSPERITY

With two New Years to celebrate, January is a hard month not to over-indulge. Save yourself time (and some calories) by only focusing on the good stuff from The Westin Singapore’s Chinese New Year take-home offerings. The Blossoming Prosperity Treasure Pot is, as its name suggests, a grand culinary affair—it is a luxurious take on time-honoured pen cai, with 15 layers including Hokkaido scallops, fish maw, roast duck and dong po pork belly, all cooked to soft, savoury perfection in a 48-hour braised abalone sauce. There are also six varieties of the season’s essential salmon salad toss, from the Bountiful Harvest Yu Sheng, which boasts juicy morsels of fresh lobster and abalone, to our top pick: The SuperFood Yu Sheng, a healthier but no less tasty alternative with honey roasted walnut, dried fruits, blueberry and sour plum dressing, and extra virgin olive oil, tossed with slivers of fresh salmon and salmon roe pearls. It’s the perfect summer salad that’s good enough to savour on its own.

A NEW DAWN

Before alarm clocks, nature’s morning call was the powerful crow of the rooster. To ring in the Lunar New Year, TWG Tea has launched Morning Rooster Tea, a bold, bright blend that is sure to awaken the senses. Black and green tea form the core of this aromatic mélange, punctuated by silver tips (delicate white tea buds at the point of unfurling), and finished with vibrant notes of jasmine, morning rose and orchard fruit. A symbol of the season packed with the plentiful health benefits of tea, each emerald tin makes a fitting gift to usher in the Year of the Fire Rooster.
