Love flowers but find it hard to sustain fresh blooms in tropical Singapore? Bring them into your home decor! From super-sized blooms to pint-sized prints, here are three modern and inspired ways to bring the outside in and enjoy flowers all year long.

Create A Vertical “Garden”.

Breathe life into bare walls with lovely floral wallpaper that instantly adds character and panache to your interiors. Ethereal floor-toceiling flowers can easily turn your walls into works of art and give a whole new meaning to the term “wallflower”.

It might seem a bit intimidating at first, but the key to using bold floral wallpaper, especially in smaller homes, is to stick to one area. Use it to highlight parts of your home instead of enveloping all your walls as it can look too stifling and cluttered. For instance, incorporate it as a feature wall in your living room or zone your dining area with a luscious design that can encourage appetites and conversation. Tie the look together by pairing with mono-coloured furnishings that follow a similar palette.

When selecting wallpaper, think about what kind of mood you want to set. While lighter shades can usher in a sense of calm and happiness, don’t shy away from darker, richer hues that can help create a more intimate and luxurious atmosphere. With a myriad of designs to choose from, be it vintage motifs or modern graphic prints, you’ll have no problem finding the right blooms for your rooms. And besides being great for concealing flaws like stains and scratches, good-quality wallpaper is also very durable and surprisingly easy to maintain.

And don’t stop at the walls. There’s also a great selection of floral-themed tiles in the market that can transform your floors and jazz up areas of your home with high-foot traffic like entryways, corridors and living rooms.

Top Tips.

Position wallpaper away from windows, as constant and direct exposure to harsh sunlight, or even rain, can cause it to warp and peel.

Avoid turning the air conditioner on and off too often in order to prolong the life of your wallpaper, and prevent the growth of mould caused by fluctuations in humidity levels.

Add Soft Touches.

Soft furnishings like curtains, upholstery, bedlinen and rugs with floral details can beautify your living space and create a more comfortable environment to relax in. Frame a window with gorgeous drapes in a charming chintz print, or dress an armchair in a flourishing design that will bring colour and flair to your room. Even a cheerful cushion cover can add a touch of spring!

Top Tips

Prevent your home from looking too archaic by mixing florals of different sizes and patterns, instead of having a roomful of matching prints.

Besides stunning wallpaper, boldly layer furniture and artwork that embody the theme for a floral symphony.

Prettify With Accents.

Pepper your home with perennial pieces that combine style and function effortlessly. Whether you prefer vibrant designs or something more subtle, there are so many ways to play with accent pieces to make your home stand out. The trick is to look out for elements that are practical and still pack a punch, such as storage solutions, serveware and seating.

For example, a plain chest of drawers with a lavish floral design can easily anchor a room, while a stainless steel flower-shaped candle holder is subtle yet sophisticated. You can also decorate with framed artwork featuring flowers – hang them up on the wall or lean them against it for effortless elegance. W
