Now you have not one but two choices for your next plaything: a super fast car and a first-ever Bugatti yacht.
While the legendary Veyron, the world’s fastest road car, is now out of production after a heady 10-year run, the French-based, Volkswagenowned supercar-maker proff ers its replacement, the Chiron. To be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next month, the 467kmh coupe will demolish all records, blazing through 100kmh in 2.2 seconds.
Quicker than you can utter the words, “I’m sorry, officer”. The other pertinent numbers are 1,500 horsepower, an equal number of newton-metres of torque and a reported 130 units – or 1.3 year’s worth of production – already spoken for, sight unseen. Details are sketchy, but VW’s former CEO let it slip before his sudden departure last year that it’ll be deployed with a petrolelectric hybrid powertrain.
No word, though, on whether it will follow the footsteps of the Veyron and be supplied only in left-hand-drive – in other words, unregistrable in Singapore. (Not that this has stopped at least one local billionaire from buying an example to admire on his driveway.) More certain, though, is that you can derive more locomotion from the Niniette.
Produced by the world’s largest motor yacht builder, Palmer Johnson, the 42-footer features design cues from classic Bugattis such as the falling shoulder line of the Type 57 C Atalante and the proportions of the Type 41 Royale. Two larger models are available, topping out at 88 feet (27m). Top speed is quite a bit lower at 70kmh, but with a build time of just 12 months, you’d be comforted to know that you can receive your Niniette sooner than a Chiron. www.bugatti.com.
