My Reading Room

Wusthof was founded in Solingen, Germany, in 1814. For generations, its knives have symbolised quality and tradition, and to this day, every knife is still crafted in Solingen.

Wusthof knives are bestsellers for a reason. Each is forged from a single piece of chromium-molybdenum-vanadium steel, a special material that provides the basis for the most important feature of any knife – its sharpness.

These knives are highly regarded by professionals and widely used by chefs around the world, and at prestigious culinary competitions. Wusthof was the knife sponsor of the Culinary Olympics 2016, where the Singapore team won golds in Hot Cooking and Cold Display. It was also the official gourmet partner of the national teams of chefs from Germany, Japan and Singapore.

SHARP & STRONG

For everyday use, the Wusthof Classic Cook’s knife is an excellent choice. This is an essential all-purpose knife for chopping, mincing, slicing and dicing.

Like all Wusthof knives, the Classic Cook’s knife is tempered to the optimum hardness (58 on the Rockwell hardness scale, to be specific) for durability. It also maintains its razor-sharpness for a long time. Plus, it is strong and easy to sharpen, and particularly resistant to corrosion and stains.

You can rely on your Wusthof Classic Cook’s knife to cut food with ease every time. The vertical indentations create small air pockets between the blade and the food, which gently push the food off the blade and reduce friction or drag when chopping. It’s ideal for chopping thick cuts of meat or chunks of vegetables. The Classic Cook’s knife comes in 16cm, 18cm, 20cm, 23cm and 26cm.

VERSATILE & ERGONOMIC

The Wusthof range also comprises other knives for different needs. The smaller ones, measuring between 7cm and 9cm, are great for paring and peeling, while the medium and large knives are designed for everyday use, or to slice bread, or carve and bone meat.

Regardless of their lengths, all are comfortable in the hand, thanks to their ergonomic handles and perfect size – and the fact that every one includes a full bolster and finger guard.
