CALLA SPA

The sprawling 10,000 sq ft lifestyle spa offers everything from foot reflexology to deep-tissue massages, Chinese tui na, firming facials, body polishes, wraps and scrubs. Guests can dine at the inhouse bistro and enjoy all spa facilities (including mineral pools and saunas) with any 60min treatment or by paying an admission fee. Looking for some couple time? Check out the Far Infrared sauna and its accompanying personalised wellness plan. This is available only in the VIP couple suite. The heat from this type of sauna is said to reach deeper into your tissues than heat from traditional saunas, and this reportedly helps you expel more toxins in your sweat.

TERRA

Enjoy post-work drinks with a view here. This 3,800 sq ft rooftop lounge at Suntec City’s Sky Garden is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy “botanical cocktails” – think sangria and mojitos mixed with fresh herbs and greens. Terra is the latest spot set up by entertainment and lifestyle group Limited Edition Concepts, the folks behind swish underground party den Kyo, and club-lounge Refuge. Its kitchen will be helmed by Singaporean chef Sudirman Alias (who was formerly head chef at The Beast and Lucha Loco). Expect a mix of bar bites and tapas-style dishes like buttermilk chicken and seafood chimichanga.

EAT AT SEVEN – TOKYO SUNDUBU

Tokyo Sundubu, with 35 outlets in Japan, has opened its first Singapore branch at Eat At Seven, a cluster of seven Japanese food and dining outlets on the third floor of Suntec City. The restaurant specialises in sundubu jjigae, a kind of Korean stew. This dish has become a fad in Los Angeles and New York because of its reported health benefits – the capsaicin- and collagen-rich ingredients apparently help maintain a svelte figure and skin elasticity. What’s more, it contains highprotein, low-calorie tofu. Choose from more than 30 variations of sundubu jjigae, from beef to pork to seafood.

OLIVIA & CO

This up-and-coming bistro is a sister brand of French finedining restaurant OCF. We’re intrigued by its inventive fusion dishes, which take inspiration from the cuisines of Asia, South America, Europe and the Mediterranean. For instance, The Kimmel is a burger-inspired dish of juicy Korean fried chicken encased in Olivia & Co’s signature brioche. Want to stock up your pantry? The bistro houses a speciality grocery store that sells items like coffee beans, tea leaves, olive oil, jams and spreads.

EAT AT SEVEN – MENYA TAKEICHI

This noodle store opened its first outlet in Shinbashi, Tokyo, and exploded in popularity after its signature ramen broth, the creamy chicken paitan, was featured on a Japanese television programme. Also known as “white soup”, the flavourful paitan broth is prepared by simmering fresh chicken and chicken feet (which provide collagen) for eight to 10 hours. If you’re after something lighter, order the restaurant’s clear-soup ramen varieties. Pair them with side dishes like gyoza, tempura and chashu (stewed pork).
