Being physically active not only keeps you in shape, but changes the structure and function of your brain, enhancing memory and other cognitive functions. Which is the best type for our brain? According to a study led by the University of Jyväskylä in Finland, running has been found to double or even triple the number of new neurons that appear in the hippocampus, the area of the brain that deals with learning and memory. They also discovered that interval training had little effect on the brain, and weight training made no difference at all. So keep pounding the pavement!
