THE DEAL: The first hotel in Asia to partner with skincare brand La Mer, The Ritz- Carlton, Millenia Singapore offers exclusive treatments, such as the La Mer Miracle Broth Facial. Comprising aerospace physicist Dr Max Huber’s complex fermentation, the result of years of craftsmanship, it was inspired by the healing energy of the sea with kelp harvested for its regenerating properties.

Developed by celebrity esthetician Joanna Czech, The Miracle Broth Facial incorporates Spa Broth, a customised form of the brand’s legendary Miracle Broth, to re-energise, nurture and deeply hydrate skin for a more youthful appearance. Exclusively available at The Ritz-Carlton Spa Singapore, no less than 13 La Mer products are used in the treatment.

THE LOWDOWN: The marine theme is apparent as you step into the tranquil oasis, with ocean-inspired elements throughout from azure lighting to shell accents setting the scene. The ultimate in facials doesn’t rely on machines or gadgets, to let the products truly shine.

A mist is first sprayed over the face, balancing the skin, before deep cleansing and exfoliation to remove impurities. After toning and massage, The Concentrate, a serum, is applied to soothe irritation and redness, containing Miracle Broth to renew.

The Moisturizing Soft Cream is then massaged into the face and neck to stimulate cell renewal, at the same time easing parchedness from hours spent on a plane. The treatment’s pièce de résistance is a condensed infusion of La Mer’s Miracle Broth. Next focus turns to peepers, which are lavished with The Eye Balm Intense. It contains three unique forms of the Miracle Broth and The Marine De-Puff Ferment to reduce puffiness while firming and lifting.

The Hydrating Facial promotes healing. Infusing moisture with the nutrient-rich Miracle Broth, the cotton mask works its magic upon contact, instantly soothing and conditioning the skin, diminishing dryness and signs of ageing. Both hands and scalp are massaged to ensure every minute is indulgent.

To finish, an ice sequence is performed as a means of sealing in the benefits imparted by the facial, a refreshing pick-me-up to gently deliver you back into the world again after the most decadent of pamperings.

BENEFITS: Those with dry skin are in for a treat as the ultra rich skincare range is highly nourishing, leaving the face visibly softer, plumped and more radiant.

The variation of strokes enhanced the sensorial journey with feather-light tapping facial massage techniques to increase circulation. The cooling effect of the specially engineered silver-tipped applicator used to apply the eye balm was a welcome alternative, as was the zesty ice sequence.

The range of textures keeps sensations interesting, from The Illuminating Eye Gel, refreshing and energising, in contrast to the ultra-rich Crème de la Mer, so dewy it needs to be warmed between the fingers until translucent before being pressed into the skin, capable of reviving even the most arid of complexions.

THE VERDICT: A must for anyone with dehydrated skin, though the La Mer line may be overly rich for those with oily or problem skin. However with such an extensive range of products, your therapist will no doubt select those catering specifically to your skin type.

The individual approach of the treatment is a draw, with your needs carefully assessed by the therapist, including skin concerns and the current climate. The level of customisation only adds to the already extravagant experience. www.ritzcarlton.com
