Its IPS-600 system provides ideal performances, low fuel consumption, silent movement and absence of vibration. The yacht is designed for more than six guests.

Volumes and surface dimensions of the project show an optimisation of the indoor spaces, with Italian design. On-board livability is easier thanks to sliding doors, the rounded edges of the furniture’s finishes, the linearity of the beds and the ease of walking on the floors, with few steps and other differences in height.

The night area includes three cabins for six guests. The fourth aft cabin is ideal for VIPs, with an en-suite toilet, a high level of finish, the livability of the spaces and privacy.

From a structural stairway there is access to the fly area that hosts a main sofa with dining table, a side sofa and a further sunbathing area with three single reclining backrests is available.

BENETTI INTRODUCES M/Y EQUUS AND DOMINI

ITALIAN YACHT MANUFACTURER BENETTI, under Azimut | Benetti Group, launched the Crystal 140 M/Y EQUUS and the 45-metre displacement yacht M/Y Domani.

The Crystal 140 represents the benchmark for semi-custom yachts in the range. First introduced in 2011 to satisfy the needs of diversified clientele for spacious above and below decks areas, Crystal 140 shuttle has since sold six units.

EQUUS was purchased by an experienced Owner, who is new to Benetti and was looking for a model that would bring together family and friends without being excessively large.

Contemporary interiors were created by the Benetti in-house design team in collaboration with the Owner’s designer, Polly Sturgess POD Interior Style studio who personally created the decorative detailing.

It recalls a colonial atmosphere with an African mood, in reference to the Owner’s family passion for the African continent and polo. The living area’s decorative panels imitate zebra skins, while all the door and cupboard handles are in dark woven leather.

The most important feature of EQUUS is the spacious sun deck that includes a large zone towards the stern with settees and lounge chairs, while the Jacuzzi has been moved forward.

“Her launch once again confirms the success of the semi-custom Crystal 140 model, surely the most spacious yacht in her category,” says Benetti COO Fabio Ermetto.

The Owner of Benetti’s other recently launched yacht M/Y Domini also focuses on sailing with family. The custom-built yacht was constructed at the Viareggio Benetti shipyard and was delivered to the client in June. This is the Owner’s fourth Benetti yacht.

The external design of the four-decked steel and aluminium yacht is the result of Benetti’s in-house design team, appointed along with superyacht designer Carlo Galeazzi to work on the interior layout with considerable input from the Owner and his design team.

The efficient use of space is one of the peculiarities of this below 500 GT full-displacement yacht. The sky lounge on the upper deck overlooks the outdoor area through a huge glass door at full height and full width (about 8 metres), creating a unique indoor-outdoor effect.

FEADSHIP LAUNCHES 70M JOY FOR SUPERYACHT NEWBIES

My Reading Room

FEADSHIP LAUNCHED the 70-metre Joy at its Kaag yard in the presence of her Owners, invited guests and the workforce responsible for her design, engineering and construction.

Featuring a great wealth of exterior spaces and a contemporary classic interior, Joy is the first superyacht to feature an exterior design by Bannenberg & Rowell and the first Feadship with an interior by the architects at Studio Indigo.

The Joy project was predicated on a fresh perspective, as the client is completely new to the industry and has never owned a superyacht before. The first of many distinctive aspects to result from this approach is the radical exterior styling, which brought with it a raft of challenges for the yard in terms of construction, fairing and painting.

“Joy is a testimony to what can be achieved when you genuinely start a superyacht build with a blank sheet of paper,” says Feadship Director Jan-Bart Verkuyl. “The Owner’s wishes have been successfully combined with Feadship’s experience and the excellent teams from Studio Indigo and Bannenberg & Rowell to fashion a truly pioneering 70-metre yacht.”

GLIDER SS18 TAKES TO THE WATER

My Reading Room

AFTER SEVEN YEARS IN DESIGN, the futuristic Glider SS18 took to the water. With technology based on long thin hull design, it is claimed to provide the smoothest ride on the water.

London-based Glider Yachts makes its catamaran hulls long and thin so they are wave piercing and only marginally affected by waves thanks to the technology from Gold Coast Yachts. The downside to this technology is that there is minimal reserve buoyancy and the size of the vessel has to be made much larger for the same payload.

The cockpit is raised up on four angled legs that keep the passengers well clear of the waves in the open cockpit. The hulls are constructed in aluminium and the superstructure in composites, a combination designed to keep the weight to a minimum. Access to the engines is through hatches in the lower hulls as they are almost on the waterline. The 60-footer can seat five people and the builders claim the SS18 will reach 56 knots.

Yamaha Wave Runner gasoline motors were squeezed into each hull. With four 270hp engines producing a total of 1080hp, the power is transmitted to the water through a specially developed water-jet system that is being kept very secret at the moment. – Dag Pike

HEESEN DELIVERS LARGEST YACHT, 70M GALACTICA SUPER NOVA

My Reading Room

HEESEN YACHTS RECENTLY delivered its largest yacht to date - the 70-metre Galactica Super Nova.

Sold in December 2013, Galactica Super Nova’s slender aluminium hull was engineered by Heesen’s in-house specialists in collaboration with the renowned Dutch naval architects van Oossanen, which devised the revolutionary hull form.

Galactica Super Nova’s sea trials took place over four days at the end of April and beginning of May in the North Sea, starting with moderate weather conditions with waves of 1.5m that progressively improved to calmer conditions with waves of 0.5m and clear blue skies.

The propulsion system consists of two MTU wing engines with fixed-pitch propellers and a third central engine with Rolls-Royce booster waterjet. The first time such a configuration has been applied to a superyacht, it provides acceleration from 0 to 30 knots in just 75 seconds, making Galactica Super Nova not only one of the 200 largest yachts in the world but also one of the fastest.

Galactica Super Nova will make her official début at the Monaco Yacht Show in September, where the interiors that Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design created for the superyacht will be revealed.

My Reading Room

ITALIAN YACHT BUILDER WIDER delivered the 47m Wider 150 - M/Y Genesi - in April.

It is the first yacht to obtain a perfect score for levels of sound and vibration with the Registro Italiano Navale (RINA) and holds a class notation of “COMF (Y) 100,100”.

“Comfort Class is granted to vessels with outstandingly low levels of noise and vibration on board, significantly below the average yacht,” says RINA Manager of Italy Yachting Centre Fiorenzo Spadoni. “These measurements were, of course, certified by our experts who undertook these readings during extensive sea trials. Among the yachts we have certified to date, Genesi is undoubtedly the best.”

Constructed entirely in aluminium, Project Genesi was created by designer Fulvio De Simoni in collaboration with Wider Founder and CEO Tilli Antonelli and the in-house Wider design team.

A range of 2,500nm is expected at a cruising speed of 13 knots, increasing to 4,700nm at the economical speed of 10 knots. The yacht has a maximum speed of 14.1 knots and can also run at five knots when solely using batteries in zero emission mode.
