The cut: Uniform layering that follows the shape of the head.
Good for: Longish faces and normaltextured hair.
How to style: Use dry shampoo and sea salt spray on the roots. Blow-dry for volume, then use a flat iron to create big S-shaped waves throughout before applying hair wax for a sexy, tousled look.
The cut: A very short and chic Vidal Sassoon-style bob that will make you look a few years younger. To keep it from appearing heavy, the sides are cut shorter.
Good for: Squarish face shapes and fine, limp hair.
The cut: A Japanesestyle volume cut with airy yet defined layers to ensure the roots don’t lie flat. Hair ends are slide-cut (it’s a thinning technique) for all-over lightness.
Good for: Inverted triangular faces and normal textured hair.
How to style: Use a sea salt spray on the roots and blowdry for volume. Use a flat iron to shape the hair in a big S-shaped wave from roots to ends, and give the ends extra lift with a volumising hairspray.
The cut: A lightly layered, playful bob. The style will last longer if it’s accompanied by a digital perm.
Good for: Squarish faces and normal textured hair.
How to style: Apply mousse throughout clean, damp hair. Blow-dry, using fingers to create texture. Set with hairspray.
The cut: A lively, necklength, layereda- little bob.
