If you travel to South Korea to stock up on K-beauty essentials, you’ll already know of new-to-Singapore brand Ryo. It’s a haircare label that shouts its Asian roots from its name down to its packaging and formulation.

While many haircare brands believe that a healthy scalp equals healthy hair, few are as wholly committed to that principle as Ryo. The name itself implies “earth” in Korean because it views the scalp as the ground for hair.

The Amorepacific backed brand has been studying Korean ginseng to combat hair loss for almost five decades.

According to its findings, ginseng boosts hair follicle cells, strengthening the entire strand from root to tip and restoring shine.

These effects of ginseng are said to delay signs of scalp ageing, which is why it is used in Ryo’s hair-loss line, which is its main range. Damaged hair? Ryo has Jeju camellia oil to reduce breakage. Dry or oily, congested scalp? Korean bamboo sap and mint ferment intensively moisturise and soothe. Dandruff issues? The sap and mint also purify, deeply cleanse, and control sebum.

The products, which have a soothing, herbal scent, are free from animal testing, mineral oils and synthetic colourants. Price range: $9.90-$19.90 – KT
