IT’S TIME TO GLAM IT UP

That means bold colours and big glitter. These looks are created from the latest holiday collections and show you how to add a party touch to basic everyday makeup.

YOUR USUAL LOOK: ROMANTIC BRONZE-Y DAYTIME SMOKY EYES

Your party glam: Full-blown smoky eyes that are more edgy than girlie.

How to: Blend, blend and blend. Says makeup artist Melissa Yeo, who created the looks here: “Blend eyeshadow all the way to the brows and outer corners of the eyes, and take your time with it.” Stick to bronze as the star colour, but instead of using black to define the outer eye corners, use a deep brown. A shimmer “point” is a must: use champagne, gold, or rose gold on the middle of the lids to create a sultry “wet look” effect.

On the eyes and lips: Chanel Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in Lumiere Et Opulence, $98, Illuminating Powder in Metal Peach, $103, and Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Rouge Delicieux, $56.

YOUR USUAL LOOK: RED LIPSTICK AND BARE EYES

Your party glam: Marilyn Monroe vibes still, but with shimmer on the eyes.

How to: You can never go wrong with red lips, so don’t draw attention away from them. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still have fun – a wash of champagne and pink over the lids, baby eyeliner wings and light glitter will have you party-ready.

On the eyes and lips: Dior 5 Couleurs eyeshadow palette in Celebrate in Gold, $107, Diorshow Liquid Mono in Fireworks, $49, and Rouge Dior Collector Couture in shade #999 Matte, $58.

YOUR USUAL LOOK: BOLD, BLACK, WINGED EYELINER

Your party glam: Go bigger and bolder with the wing, but in a trendy plum.

How to: It’s meant to be dramatic. “Pack it on the lids, following the shape of your usual eyeliner, but increasing the width and length,” says Yeo. To get a clean, sharp wing with eyeshadow, place a piece of sticky tape at the outer corners of the eyes as a guide. You can keep the lower lash line bare for a minimal look or complement the plum with orange. Skip the blusher, and match the eyes with a mauve lipstick.

On the eyes and lips: Shu Uemura Pikashu Eye Palette in Thunder Shock, $123, and Rouge Unlimited Matte lipstick in Mulberry Frost, $42.

YOUR USUAL LOOK: NATURAL, NEUTRAL TONES

Your party glam: Swop out brown eyeshadow for adventurous blue and green.

How to: Blend bronze all over the eyelids. On the inner third of the lids, apply a light blue and feather it out to create a wash of pastel. Then, a glittery lime green in the middle of the lids – gently pat it on to create an unexpected highlight point. Keep the rest of the look simple: warm, bronzed cheeks and a nude lip.

On the eyes: Laura Mercier Fine Art Eyeshadow Palette, $80.
