That was the question that kept coming up as I started spending more time than I should on social media since we entered WFH-mode, falling mindlessly into a wormhole of largely same-same content (it’s for research, okay?).

How next should we be ideating videos or showcasing the new must-have-something to be truly impactful, visually and mentally?
It was then that I realised the animated stuff was jumping out at me more – be it 2-D GIFs or CGI-backed short films that could rival Avatar. That, and the fact that there seems to be more Singapore creatives active in the scene and, hey, if we’ve learnt anything from the lockdown and the disruption that it’s had on the fashion publishing industry, it’s that we should always have an alternative way of producing great imagery.
And that was how we decided to come up with this edition dedicated to and inspired by the world of animation. Perhaps the cartoon lover in me was drawn by the childlike innocence of the medium in its most basic yet wellknown form (Disney films of the ‘50s, The Amazing World Of Gumball, Family Guy – I heart them all). Or perhaps it’s how with animation, the possibilities of what one can do with one’s imagination is truly endless.
