CYAN-TIFICALLY PROVEN
Olivia Munn is no stranger to the statement lower lash line look and we are huge fans of this cyan and nude combo. Use a coloured eyeliner like the Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in 62 Ody(sea), $38, before adding on the shu uemura Pressed Eye Shadow in turquoise M569 for better staying power. For the eyelids, keep it simple with the Medium Green IR470 and Light Beige IR811. To balance out this bottom-heavy look, don’t forget to apply a mascara like the NARS Climax Mascara, $42.
IN THE NUDE
Brown smokey eyes like the one seen on Constance Wu looks amazing on just about anyone. Using the innisfree My Palette Eyeshadow in #5, #15, #22 & #4, $42, apply darker colours like #22 on the outer corners of the eye, working your way inwards with #4 and #15. Then, dab on #5 on the inner corners to really make your peepers pop. A fluffy brush like the 13rushes Fluffy Blender, $18, will make it easy for you to blend out the eye shadow pigments for a gorgeous neutral lid.
GO FOR GOLD
Irina Shayk’s gold smokey eye look at the 2018 CFDA Fashion Awards was created to match her bright yellow dress, but if you’re looking for a more wearable version, turn to the HERA Shadow Holic 4D in #1, $58. Use a wet brush to create a see-through colour with the gold, and as always, use a clean fluffy brush to blend.
VIOLET HUES
The bright lilac spotted on Olivia Culpo during the 2017 Academy Awards can be intimidating, but the Astalift Flarosso Intenso Eyeshadow in VI01, $65, features wearable purples suitable for Asian skin tones. The gradation on Olivia’s lids are very subtle – start with a lighter purple on the inner corners of the eye and work outwards with a darker shade. At any point, if you feel the colors are too bright, you can always add a neutral brown to dull the tone down to a classic plum colour.
RED ALERT
Wearing one of the hottest eye shadow trends, Deepika Padukone’s deep-set eyes show off burgundy perfectly as demonstrated by her red carpet look on the premiere of xXx: Return of Xander Cage. Using the colours from the Shiseido Essentialist Eye Shadow in Hanatsubaki Street Nightlife, $60, line both the upper and lower lash lines with the darkest shade to define the eyes. Then, add the lighter tones on the eyelids and blend with a clean brush.
BLUE BLOODED
Aishwarya Rai’s stunning eye look from the 2018 Cannes Film Festival can be recreated with the Chanel Les Ombres in 312 Quiet Revolution, $94. Line the blue on the lash line and bring the ends up to a wing. Blend inwards along the eye socket, along with the nude colour to form an ombre. For the lower lash line, start with blue on the inner corners and blend with a darker blue to add dimension. For colours that really pop, we recommend a base layer of the Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin, $35.
