Though the homeowners of this four-room flat in Punggol like the trendy industrial look, they weren’t interested in cookie-cutter designs. So, designer Kelvin Teo from Space Sense Studio altered their common HDB flat layout by adding a sloping wall feature that ran from wall to ceiling. The ceiling became the highlight of the home, from the crossed rods to the beams that concealed the light tracks.

Next, Kelvin imbued cosiness through warm lighting, as well as wood-look finishes such as the timber vinyl flooring (overlaid on the original home flooring) and wood furniture.

Instead of the usual red or white brick wall, they chose a printed brick-look wallcovering instead. The recycled oil barrel console enhanced the edgy industrial style, too.

Like the concealed track lights, many other customised features in the home are multipurpose. The divider between the living room and main entrance not only provides privacy, but is a display space for knick-knacks, too. The mirror-cum-door hides a shoe cabinet.

As the homeowners wanted plenty of wardrobe space, two bedrooms were combined; this made way for a wall-to-wall wardrobe, a closet island, as well as a study area. The track lights, customised wooden bed frame and headboard, and wardrobe’s pipe handles complete the industrial-style look.
