Anyone who’s interested in skincare and beauty is aware that the skin’s epidermis is the top layer, where melanin is produced, and the dermis is the middle layer, where both melanin and collagen are produced. Now, there’s another term to know: superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS). It’s the layer of connective tissue between the muscle and the skin/fat of the face. London-trained Dr Tan Ying Zhou is the medical director of Simplistiq Aesthetic Clinic. The American Aesthetics Association member focuses on procedures that help the face and the body achieve a more sculpted appearance. He founded the clinic in 2015 with the aim of creating a bright, minimalist space that would reflect his approach to aesthetics – simple solutions using modern technology.
