BEST HYDRATING FACIAL

EDITORS’ CHOICE AND READERS’ CHOICE: Cellular Hydration Facial

($441.37 for 90min)

The session started with a footbath and deep-breathing exercises using essential oils of our choice. The facial incorporates face oils, a hydration serum, moisture-replenishing mask and a therapeutic herbal poultice massage. Our dehydrated skin looked more supple and dewy after. Take a day off to enjoy the bells and whistles at the 108,000 sq ft spa – from beach villas and garden spa suites to an authentic Turkish hammam, crystal steam rooms, a rock sauna and even sleeping pods.

BEST GENTLE HYDRATING FACIAL

EDITORS’ CHOICE: Hydro-aid Moisturizing Soothing Treatment

($180 for 80min)

Lulling us into a super-relaxed mood was the ginseng footbath that kick-started the session. Suitable for sensitive skin, the facial uses white porcelain applicators to massage the Hydro-aid Moisturizing Soothing Cream into skin. The applicators contain minerals that reportedly help purify skin, while the cream has soothing and hydrating birch sap. Under the therapist’s skilful touch, we dozed off during the treatment and woke up to fresh, “bouncy” skin.

READERS’ CHOICE: Korea Stem Cell Skin Booster Treatment

(from $380 for 75min)

Good for sensitive skin, this treatment uses Korean stem cell technology that supposedly aids skin cell repair. Skincare with vegetable placenta and stem cells extracted from peas forms a protective layer over skin and works to soften it. Our tester’s skin boasted a youthful-looking radiance after, and she liked how the relaxing ambience of the salon kept her at ease.

Mirage Aesthetic, #04-08 Orchard Parade Hotel (tel: 6262-3358/3378)

BEST DEEP-HYDRATING FACIAL

EDITORS’ CHOICE AND READERS’ CHOICE: Hydraintense Solution

($310.30 for 105min)

We like the detailed 3-D skin analysis done at the start of the session, which helps us better understand our skin condition. The intensely moisturising treatment involves the use of pure hyaluronic acid to help boost hydration levels, while rose and lavender essences enhance absorption. Our skin felt softer and had a dewy glow post-treatment.

BEST ORGANIC HYDRATING FACIAL

EDITORS’ CHOICE AND READERS’ CHOICE: Bio Guasha Treatment

($256.80 for 90min)

This facial involves guasha, a traditional Chinese massage technique. The therapist uses a ceramic guasha board to scrape the skin using pressurised strokes – this supposedly stimulates the lymphatic system to boost skin renewal for a firmer, more lifted look. Although guasha is often associated with bruised and reddened skin, the therapist here had a measured touch that didn’t leave any marks. Instead, our skin appeared rejuvenated and less tired after the session. The look of wrinkles, dark circles and puffiness was reduced too.
