The new cocktail attire… should include shorts – as long as they’re of the tailored bermudas variety seen on Prada’s S/S ’19 runway. To match: a statement top, be it a satin pussy-bow blouse or shrunken car coat.
The new workwear… takes a cue from Mrs P’s own fuss-free uniform of a sweater and skirt, but is even more effortless: a crisp jersey T-shirt dress with an embellished satin skirt that still exudes decorum.
The new luxury knit… can have the same plush feel and complex pattern of woven jacquard. Prada is said to be the only brand able to achieve this with its recently acquired high-tech knitting factory in Italy, and has applied it onto headbands, coats, bodysuits and sandals this season. And we all know what the house did for nylon.
The new apres-pool chic… ditches the kaftan for a satin wrap skirt as a post swim cover-up. It’s more sophisticated and transitions easily into evening (especially when the bathing suit is as unexpected as Prada’s – knitted with a plunging neckline and a Mary Jane-inspired strap across the bodice).
