What it doesn’t: a sense of youthfulness and fun whether you go shocking Schiaparelli pink like on the runways of Chalayan, or a deep fuchsia as seen at Chanel (above). THE INSTA-COOL MAKEUP TRICK: PAINTERLY EYES AND CHEEKS

As its name suggests, this boasts an artistic edge – coupled with a romanticism that would still appeal to girlie girls. To achieve it on peepers, gently dab on a colour of choice (particularly trendy this S/S ’19: the bright canary yellow used on the models at Erdem and Marc Jacobs), reducing the intensity as one works towards the outer lids. Makeup artist Wee Ming, who created the look here, recommends using a powder eyeshadow as it’s easier to control. The same goes for blusher – light hand, powder preferred (but no, not yellow) – for a pretty, doll-like flush. Experimental types can try both at the same time; girlie girls, pick one. – SK
