Do you think makeup can be empowering for women?
Of course! Makeup can be used for many different reasons: to enchance our best features, or make us look stronger, more approachable, more professional or more presentable, depending on the products and techniques used.
Does having makeup on make you feel more confident?
Makeup brings out my confidence, because I know I’m putting my best features forward.
Has your style changed a lot over the course of being in the public eye?
Definitely! I used to wear a lot more colours, but the older I get, the more I find myself drawn to neutral tones like black, white, grey and navy. Now, I like to play with accessories instead. I find myself wearing more basic pieces that are very versatile and can be mixed and matched easily.
Does your makeup affect the outfit you pick?
Of course. For instance, when I have smoky eyes, I’ll wear darker clothes; and when I have light makeup on, I’ll go with, say, a light dress. You don’t want to go out in a sweet dress when you have strong eye makeup!
What can we usually find in your bag?
The usual: my phone, wallet, keys, a laptop charger because I carry my laptop around a lot, and my makeup pouch. Since I’m out of the house for very long hours, I make sure I have things like blotting paper, powder, lipstick (which can also double up as a blush) and concealer. I like to carry concealer around because I find that even if you don’t touch up your makeup throughout the day, just a dab of concealer on the right places can instantly brighten your whole face.
Do you have any beauty tips to share with us?
The condition of your skin is very important. And there is no secret to great skin – it’s just a matter of how hardworking you are about skincare. And always remember that what works for others might not work for you!

“This is something that I use every day – it’s just a matter of how much! I like how versatile eyeliners are. You can do a lot with them, be it for a light, everyday look or for a more dramatic look. It’s amazing how you can change the shape of your eyes depending on how your eyeliner is drawn.”

“When you sleep, that’s when your skin repairs itself. So I like to give it a little boost with an overnight skincare product so that my skin recovers better. I use Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate. It’s expensive but worth it!”
I carry a laptop around with me most of the time, since I’m still going to school and all, so it’s a plus point that the ASUS ZenBook is so slim and portable. I like the sleek design and the pattern on the metallic surface – it’s not a boring laptop, for sure!

How would you describe your style?
It’s pretty casual. I put comfort first, so I wouldn’t wear something I can’t breathe in! I also play around with silhouettes a lot.
Does dressing well empower you?
Yes it does! First impressions always count, so when you present yourself well to others, they will generally have a good impression of you.
Can you tell us more about what gives you confidence?
Looking on point and putting on a flattering outfit paired with the right accessories.
Have you had any embarrassing fashion moments?
Well, not sure if this counts as a fashion moment, but it was definitely embarrassing: I wore a white dress to a movie date once, and my period came unexpectedly halfway through! I didn’t even realise it until I was queuing up for the bathroom after and someone tapped me on the shoulder to tell me about the situation. Now, I always make sure to wear dark colours around the time of my period...
How important is it for you to be always dressed up?
Not that much. I only put in effort when I go for events and have to look presentable. In fact, my resolution for this year is to not overdress. I feel that my time can be used more productively!

WHY I’M CONFIDENT IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA
As a model, do you think it’s important to be stylish?
Definitely! First impressions count, especially in this industry. People are going to judge you by what you wear, so what I wear to castings is the most important thing. Of course, they take your personality into consideration as well. But at the beginning, to get your foot through the door, it’s all about what you look like.
What gives you confidence when you’re at a casting or on a shoot?
Just knowing that I am me, and not everybody in the world is going to like me for me, so I always tell myself not to take anything to heart! Working with the client is always a good confidence booster too. I always ask if there’s anything specific they’re looking for, or find out if there’s anything extra I can bring to the role, casting, or shoot. If they’re happy, they’ll let me know, which then makes me confident because I know I’m doing a good job!
What’s your model-off-duty style?
I like to keep it simple, so I usually wear items in black, white, camo and tan. Simplicity is key.
Tell us the craziest thing you’ve ever had to wear!
A rainbow-coloured tutu. It was one of those outrageous shoots, so besides the tutu, I also had on a bob wig and these huge sunglasses.
