The promise: To deeply cleanse, stimulate cell turnover and improve the texture, radiance and vitality of the skin. The addition of anti-inflammatory manuka honey is believed to brighten and minimise breakouts, while papaya extract and vitamin C exfoliate for an anti-ageing effect. Said to lock in moisture for up to 12 hours, with the combination of xylitol and glucose boosts epidermal water reserves to improve hydration and enhance natural barrier function.

What’s in it: All natural ingredients, including 10 per cent manuka honey with malic acid. Grapefruit and mandarin essential oils balance sebum production and purify pores to eliminate toxins. Infused with green tea containing antioxidants to impart a natural glow, as well as seaweed and apple pectin to retain moisture. The omega 7 found in organic sea buckthorn berry oil boosts skin hydration, elasticity and texture.

Packaging: Clean, modern and simple. The clear bottle showcases the vibrant orange hue of the product. Handy pump is a bonus, but may be on the large side for travel.

Put to the test: The delicious hit of citrus fruits is most noticeable upon application, and probably the highlight of this cleanser.  Two to three pumps is generally enough for a single application and the gel consistency is pleasant enough. I tend to use this as an evening cleanser with the Clarisonic as the last step of cleansing after make-up removal, all easily removed with warm water.

Best for: The brightening effect of this cleanser is most prominent so anyone with a dull complexion who is looking for a boost of radiance. Given its clean ingredient deck, it’s gentle enough for most skin types.

Final verdict: Definitely recommend – helps slough away texture gently while promoting luminosity. As with all of the brand’s offerings, Vital Cleanse is free from artificial colours and fragrances, sulphates, parabens and preservatives and other nasty chemicals.
