For those with a sweet tooth

Try: Cocoa Blanc 38, $6

How’s this for a fun spin on classic hot cocoa? Rather than your standard milk chocolate, 33 per cent white couverture chocolate (a high-quality version containing extra cocoa butter for a delicious, mellow flavour) is used as the base instead, then mixed with milk, and lemon and orange bits. This was apparently created with kids in mind, but we say the sweet, milky flavours are perfect for any adult looking for a little childhood nostalgia.

For serious chocolate aficionados

Try: Cocoa 100, $12.90

You know you’re getting the really good stuff with this baby: 70 per cent dark couverture chocolate is blended with cream and milk for a concoction so rich and potent, it’s served in small portions only. Warning! Strictly for those who love their chocolate pure and unadulterated.

For those who want it lighter on the palate

Try: Cocoa 76, $7.90

At about 76 per cent of the richness of coc oa colony’s signature cocoa 100 chocolate drink, the cocoa 76 is proof that you can enjoy all the comfort of a hot cocoa drink, but with way less guilt. Evidently, you can have your cake and eat it.
