JEANNEAU’S CHINESE DEALER, Speedo Marine, recently sold its first Jeanneau 51 into China, marking the fourth unit sold into the Asia Pacific. The vessel will be delivered in January 2018 and used privately by the owner and his family to cruise around the world.
Inspired by the Jeanneau 54, the 51-footer was designed by French naval architect Philippe Briand and UK-based designer Andrew Winch.
Jeanneau has built over 50 hulls since the model was presented in Cannes last September.
In April, the model was named Best Sailing Yacht (up to 65 feet) at the Asia Boating Awards by Asia-Pacific Boating and China Boating magazines, and in July had its Asia-Pacific premiere at the Sydney International Boat Show.
Paul Blanc, Beneteau Group’s Managing Director Asia Pacific, said: “The Jeanneau 51 represents the entry level for Jeanneau Yachts, the company’s dedicated premium range for boats above 50ft. Jeanneau Yachts makes up half of the global sales in the 50-65ft sailboat segment, so it’s a very strategic product for us.”
As part of its 60th anniversary, Jeanneau hosted nearly 300 dealers from around the world on a cruise ship in Greece for the annual International Jeanneau Dealer Meeting. Jeanneau, which added 20 new dealerships to its list, showed all the participants the shipyard’s new models for 2018.
The French builder was established in 1957 when Henri Jeanneau constructed a wooden hull at the back of the family hardware shop in Les Herbiers and raced the completed boat to victory in 6 Heures de Paris.
