LOVE ON WHEELS
With its new Loving Butterfly Automaton watches, Jaquet Droz offers a fresh take on a brand classic and shows what a difference a precious mineral makes. First launched in 2017, the Automaton watch won hearts with its Cupid and butterfly chariot motif, racing through a forest with spinning wheels and fluttering wings when animated. Now refreshed with a mesmerising opal dial, the watch presents a new wrist-sized fairy tale for a happily ever after.

HEARTS AFLUTTER
In 2004, Van Cleef & Arpels collaborated with famed Japanese lacquer artist Junichi Hakose on a collection of butterflies that showcased the revered art of urushi lacquer. It’s a partnership that continues to this day, with Hakose creating new pieces for the collection regularly, to the delight of fans. This year, however, sees a collaboration of a different sort for the winged creations: South Korean artistic director Younghee Sue lends her vision to the collection and brings it to life through photographs that resemble paintings from the Joseon dynasty —capturing the fragile beauty of the creatures with poetry that befits their artistry.

RAINBOW POWER
Rainbows have long stood for hope, optimism and inclusivity, making their hues a befitting one to grace Breitling’s Superocean Heritage ’57 Rainbow watch. Produced in a limited edition of just 1,000 pieces globally, part of the proceeds from the sale of the watch will go to charities supporting frontline healthcare workers in countries affected by Covid-19. This campaign will see Breitling donating about $735,000 to the cause. Or if it’s a stronger visual statement that you’re after, Hublot’s Spirit of Big Bang Rainbow lets you wear your colours with pride through a cacophony of sapphires, rubies, topazes, tsavorites and amethysts playing their part.

SAME BUT DIFFERENT
Asymmetric earrings have really gained momentum this year, with brands such as Chanel, Oscar de la Renta, Fendi and Valentino sending models down the runway with their ears dressed in mismatched or just single earrings. Dior, too, is no stranger to this trend, having provided women with the sanctioned chance to unleash their style rebel with its Tribal earrings circa 2013 (helped by the chic image of Jennifer Lawrence with the orbs gracing just one earlobe.) The brand’s latest Dior et Moi collection continues that tradition with a myriad of designs that present something no woman can resist: Creations with a rainbow spectrum of gems that she can mishmash to her heart’s content.
