Works of sculptural art, metal-bracelet models continue to thrive in the horological universe.
ICE AGE
This year, Montblanc’s sporty vintage 1858 pieces take their cue from alpine snowscapes. That’s why the latest 1858 Geosphere, an automatic timepiece with dual-time and world-time functions, has been updated in cool hues of blue and icy white. The 42mm titanium case can be matched with a new “beads of rice”-style bracelet, which combines brushed titanium outer links with polished steel inner links.
FOR ALL TIME
The signature Maltese cross motif that’s integrated into the pink gold bracelet of this watch signals to any collector worth his salt that this is a Vacheron Constantin timepiece. The latest iteration of the self-winding Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin combines this pink gold bracelet with a blue dial and a 41.5mm-wide and 8.1mm-thick pink gold case.
FANTASTIC VOYAGE
Launched last year, A. Lange & Sohne’s Odysseus is the brand’s first serially produced steel watch. The subject of much debate, the watch’s integrated steel bracelet features brushed links with polished, bevelled edges that are meant to be kind to your body hair. Powered by the brand-new self-winding movement L155.1, the 40.5mm timepiece is water-resistant to 120 metres.
COME FULL CIRCLE
As its name suggests, the Rouleaux – French for rollers – bracelet of Breitling’s latest Chronomat watches comprises distinctive cylindrical links. This year, Breitling has released several versions of its revamped classic chronograph. This green-dialled edition of the 42mm automatic steel model celebrates the brand’s long-running collaboration with motoring marque Bentley.
FULL STEAM AHEAD
Taking its name and design inspiration from high-speed trains of the 1920s and 1930s, the Streamliner by H. Moser is distinguished by its undulating steel bracelet with vertically brushed finishes and polished surfaces. The face is just as distinctive too. The 42.3mm cushion case features a minimalist grey dial that combines the flyback chronograph’s minute and second hands.
NEW DIMENSIONS
If you have slender wrists or favour timepieces with smaller dimensions, Audemars Piguet has finally released a Royal Oak Selfwinding with your name on it. Measuring 34mm in diameter, the new Royal Oak models come in four different versions, including this steel and pink gold version. This model features a silver-toned Grande Tapisserie engraved dial and a steel bracelet accented with pink gold links.
WITH A BANG
Fifteen years after the launch of its signature Big Bang model, Hublot introduces the line’s first integrated bracelet with the Integral. The 42mm automatic watch has three variants – titanium, black ceramic, or King Gold (a combination of gold, copper and platinum; pictured). The highly faceted links, with polished and brushed surfaces, take their cues from the Big Bang’s case-middle cut-outs and rectangular pushers.
