Power Pout

The red lipstick is an instant confidence booster – pick one like Urban Decay’s Vice Lipstick in 69, $29, to automatically brighten up your face. Ensure lips are exfoliated, as lipstick may accentuate dry lines.

Smoke and Mirrors

Smouldering and seductive, a smokey eye is the go-to look for Victoria’s Secret models. A neutral palette like the Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette, $73, is versatile enough for creating a variety of sultry smokey hues.

Goddess of Light

For skin that glows from within, start with a radiance-enhancing primer like the Guerlain Meteorites Base, $107 (30 ml), before layering a light coverage foundation over it. For added glow, apply highlighter on the cheekbones, nose bridge and Cupid’s bow.

As the pageant title holder for Miss Hong Kong 2013 and Miss Chinese International 2014, you would have thought Grace Chan would have an elaborate, multiple-step beauty routine. Surprisingly, the down-to-earth actress (who’s starred in movies such as Blue Veins and will take on a lead role in 2017’s Wulin Revival) adopts a low-maintenance approach when it comes to skincare and makeup, often placing emphasis on hydrating masks to maintain a healthy complexion. Her weakness, though, are fragrances.

“My favourite is Miss Dior,” the 25-year-old says. “It was one of the first perfumes I received from my mother, and I cherish it with all my heart.” When asked what she thinks makes a woman sexy, Grace replies, “Sexy has always been an embarrassing term to me. When I was younger, I saw a sexy woman as someone who was erotic and seductive. However, I’ve now come to understand that sexy means to be strong, confident and completely comfortable in your own skin.”

Her relationship with fellow actor Kevin Cheng has been a major talking point due to their 22-year age difference, but Grace says, “Age is a number, not an indicator of love.” She adds that love requires only simple qualities like honesty, commitment and being wholeheartedly loving. “Kevin is all of that and more.”
