CAR, INTERRUPTED
The motoring industry in Singapore has been disrupted since the private-hire players arrived in 2013. Everybody from the dealers to the Land Transport Authority to individual buyers had to adapt to this new environment.
Our beloved automobile is being disrupted, too. New cars are filled with so much techno-wizardry that motoring writers must also become IT geeks, if they aren’t already.
Electric cars are slowly but surely becoming entrenched here. The march towards self-driving cars continues, albeit with less hype. Unless something disrupts its progress, the fully autonomous car is going to become a reality.
Yes, we must adapt. But cautiously. Consider what will really benefit us and embrace that. Then chuck the rest.
