What does one require of a daily tote? It should be functional: light to begin with, so it can afford to get heavier when it’s filled (with, say, a laptop); have ample space; supple straps that don’t bite the hand or shoulder; hold its shape even when it’s stuffed to the brim; have a side pocket for smaller things; even better if there’s a detachable purse; and look substantial without being precious. Balenciaga’s Everyday is all that. And just in case you’re vain, there’s also a detachable mirror. From $1,390.
