To be a cool watchmaker today, it’s not enough to be innovative with what you put inside. You need the creative and experimental to show on the outside, too. Hublot, the Swiss brand known for never playing it safe, gets that – its latest timepieces range from boldly fashion-forward and complicated to sporty and fun.

Big Bang Broderie Yellow Gold

There’s a lot of Hublot’s “The Art of Fusion” philosophy here: silk organza (on the dial and strap), St Gallen embroidery of floral arabesques (created by Bischoff, a renowned Swiss embroidery company) depicting a skull (we thought it was lace at first), and an 18K yellow gold case. $40,200.

Classic Fusion Italia Independent Pieds-de- Poule Blue Titanium
The fifth Hublot x Lapo Elkann Italia Independent collab has three limitededition chronographs. Each is clothed in a ’60s- or ’70s-inspired fabric that the heir to Fiat chose from the archives of Rubinacci, the legendary Italian tailor. The one here, at $21,400, is wearing houndstooth. Big Bang Ferrari Unico Magic Gold
The gold used for the case and bezel – an alloy of boron carbide and 24K gold – isn’t so much magical as it is solid. Developed by Hublot with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, it is said to be the hardest gold in the world – hardier than 18K and way hardier than the hardened steel of power and surgical tools. Only diamond can cut it. Limited to 250 pieces. $52,200.
