You only live once, so might as well indulge in all the good food around, right? Well, it turns out that unwanted weight gain is not the only side effect of overeating. For one, there’s the wave of sleepiness you get after a big meal (AKA food coma), which happens because your digestive system demands more blood, leaving less of it available for your brain. Research has also shown that overeating can also lead to heart disease, diabetes and even cancer. If you can’t deal with cutting down your meal portions, consider breaking three big meals into six smaller ones filled with fruits and vegetables.
